SouthEast Bank awards over 10,000 dollars in scholarships to local graduating seniors participating in Girl Talk Inc.’s LIFE Prep Program.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. June 13, 2023 – On Sunday, May 7th, Southeast Bank supported local education by gifting scholarships to four graduating seniors through Girl Talk Inc. The winners of the scholarships, Jasmine Moore, Odrielle Uwimana, Rashay Bennett, and Amaria Foster, were selected through an essay contest and recognized for their achievements during Girl Talk Inc’s Senior Celebration.

Girl Talk Inc is a Tennessee-based organization focused on community enrichment by helping young women and girls become successful adults. The organization highlights the importance of education and empowers female youth to reach their potential.

A Branch manager, Deborah Lee, actively involved with the sponsorship, says that supporting local education is a core value of SouthEast Bank.

“As a local bank, we uphold a standard of serving the community both in and out of our offices,” said Lee. “Through these scholarships, we can invest in our community just as they invest in us.”

Since 2006, SouthEast Bank has gifted over $20.8 million to colleges across Tennessee to benefit students in need. Southeast Bank is committed to supporting academic excellence in its work with Girl Talk Inc.

The LIFE Prep Academy offers young women across Knox County a chance to develop professional skills, explore career options, and craft spectacular college applications to send them on their academic journey.

“Our mission is to equip girls with the tools and skills to reach their potential,” says Shaneeka Relford, a representative of Girl Talk Inc. “All our seniors in the life program graduate high school in four years or less, and they strive to go on even further.”

The scholarships provided by SouthEast Bank will assist the girls enrolled in this program as they pursue postsecondary educational opportunities.
