That’s why we care about introducing you to the special team members who you’ll see in our branches every day, like Nancy Hayes. Nancy’s decades of banking experience have earned her loyal customers in Athens, where she leads the SouthEast Bank team.
“I truly enjoy everyday interactions with my customers,” says Nancy. I have long-time customers who will wait until I’m available to visit with me. I still have customers who started banking with me when I first moved to Athens!”
That move was 30 years ago, when Nancy and her husband Kevin discovered Athens’ special charm. “After living here for just a short time, my husband and I knew this was where we wanted to stay and raise our family,” says Nancy. Now, that family includes son Blake and daughter Nicole, as well as granddaughter Emi and grandson Jace.
Nancy’s hardworking spirit was developed at a young age. As a teenager, she was a competitive gymnast, earning Oklahoma State Champion and Mississippis State Champion (twice!). “I have always loved a good challenge,” Nancy admits. “I am extremely competitive with anything I do.” That drive has taken her far, from the Sunglass Shack in high school, where she first learned about retail, sales, and customer service, to a long-tenured career in banking, during which she’s honed extensive knowledge and training on products such as IRAs.
In her spare time, Nancy is an avid crafter and cook (“I’m always making something!”) and a devoted fan of Days of Our Lives (“I’ve followed the show for 40 years.”). When she’s not whipping up something delicious herself, she and Kevin take the grandkids to Western Sizzlin’. “They love that they can get ice cream after we eat,” Nancy says. Well, who could blame them!
We’re grateful to count Nancy among our branch supervisors, especially in a community as near and dear to SouthEast Bank as Athens—because that’s where we got our start!
